2030 Predictions

Mitch’s predictions for the next decade, 2020-2030

  1. Healthcare Industry Disruption: I predict a major disruption in the healthcare industry from the private market. It may come from an existing company in an adjacent market or a new player altogether. Healthcare is a $12T global industry. North America is the largest market for healthcare, accounting for 41.9% of the global market. The U.S. government tried to disrupt the industry in the 2010’s. It was partially successful with ACA. I believe a smart customer-service oriented organization will take us to the next frontier with lower cost, transparent pricing, helpful data sharing, and seamless user-friendly technology.
  2. Next Media Device: Let’s reflect for a moment: BlackBerry was the device of 2000’s. iPhone was the device of 2010’s. I predict a new and innovative media device will own the 2020’s. It may be a handheld. It may be a wearable. It may be a chip.
  3. 1st Public Company with $3T Market Cap: Amazon will be the first company to hit $3T Market Cap (and continue to climb) and Jeff Bezos will be the first person to hit $1 Trillion net worth. Apple and/or The Walt Disney Company will follow shortly behind them.
  4. Madame President: We will see our first Madame President in the USA in the next 10 years.
  5. Tech Bubble: Lead by Softbank, VC firms are drunk with money investing in start-ups that are aspirational, but not profitable. Entrepreneurs are drunk with overconfidence and overvaluations. Billions of dollars in paper value are starting to disappear (i.e. WeWorks). Too many companies are going public with no solid business model and negative net profits. It feels like 1999 with history repeating itself all over again. This is a tech bubble waiting to happen. It will happen within the next 10 years.
